Swapna Sreenivasan, an Assistant Professor at the Government College for Women here, has been selected for the ‘Bhashakkoru Dollar’ prize 2017, instituted by the University of Kerala and Federation of Kerala Association in North America (FOKANA) for the best doctoral thesis in Malayalam.
Dr. Sreenivasan’s thesis ‘Cultural politics in the stories of Pattathuvila – A study’, based on the works of short story writer Pattathuvila Karunakaran, fetched her the award, which carries a cash prize of ₹50,000, a plaque and a citation.The awardee, who was undertaken her research under the Department of Malayalam, Maharaja’s College, had submitted her thesis in July 2015. The MGU subsequently conferred the doctoral degree. Dr. Sreenivasan’s guide V.K Krishna Kaimal, will also be presented a cash prize of ₹5,000, a plaque and a citation.
