Attack not an isolated incident: Pillai

Several injured during Secretariat march by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha

Several persons were injured when the police used water cannons and swung batons to quell Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) protesters who marched to the Secretariat against the alleged fascism of the Students Federation of India on the University College campus.

Those injured in the police action are BJYM State general secretary Renjith Shankaran and State-level office-bearers Ragendu, Manjith and Vishnu.

BJP State president P. Sreedharan Pillai, who inaugurated the protest, said the public could not view the knife attack on Akhil Chandran in isolation. The crime was an extension of the fascist attitude of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The people should view the attempt on the life of Akhil, who is also an SFI activist, in conjunction with the attack on C.O.T. Nazeer, a former CPI(M) activist, in Kannur.
