App to hail autorickshaws

March 07, 2019 12:36 am | Updated 12:36 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM

A group of engineering students have launched a mobile application that will make it easier for users to hail an autorickshaw.

The ‘Autokkaran’ app, developed by the start-up company Bharati Info Logics, works much like the existing taxi aggregator services, and is available for free download.

In the initial phase, fifty autorickshaws from the city have signed up with the app.

The students who have launched the app have pitched it as a way for autorickshaw drivers to overcome the challenge from the taxi aggregator services. In the next phase, it will be expanded to the entire city and to other regions within the district.

The app will be officially launched on Thursday evening.
