The Press Club on Wednesday witnessed a book release with a difference. A group of around hundred people, all of them hailing from Kattakada, released the book ‘Kurumuniyude Nattil,’ which deals with the local history of Kattakada taluk. The book, written by journalist Kiliyoor Ajith, is a comprehensive guide to the social, economic, political and cultural history of the region.

‘Relevant’

Speaking at the event, T.N. Seema, MP, said such works which shed light on the history of a region were relevant at a time when regressive forces were trying to impose their version of history on people. “History does not mean just the story of kings and their battles. It is also about the regular struggles of the people, their lifestyles and their working conditions. Some people are now trying to create a history based on fiction and impose it upon us. In this book, Ajith brings out all the little known aspects of Kattakada. Such attempts at writing local histories might inspire others too to write such works on different places,” she said.
