The month-long camp, which began on April 8, featured a wide array of fun-filled programmes and educational activities.

It was a month that raced past them, full of fun, new friends and a lot of excitement. All the enjoyment and fun came to a close on Friday when the curtain came down on ‘Summer 2015’ vacation camp at the State Central Library here.

On hand to see them off were Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, magician Gopinath Muthukad, lyricist Poovachal Khader and veteran journalist Malayinkeezhu Gopalakrishnan.

Mr. Muthukad added an element of suspense and thrill to the concluding day with a magic performance.

“We need our students to be highly competitive in today’s world. They need to expand their horizons and summer camps like this provide the best opportunity to develop a mindset to embrace and try out new and different things in life,” said Mr. Sivakumar.

The month-long camp, which began on April 8, featured a wide array of fun-filled programmes and educational activities. From health education and cyber safety to the wonders of science and the history of Thiruvananthapuram, eminent people from different fields of life took the children on a knowledge quest. The children also got an opportunity to converse with many of them, often surprising the experts with their understanding of people and matters.

The evenings were packed with music and dance as famous artistes performed and organised workshops for the children. And topping all these were the picnics.

“It was a great experience at this camp. I have learnt to draw, sing, dance and act,” says Darshith, a Class VIII student.
