20% increase in Plus One seats

The State Cabinet has decided to increase Plus One seats in government and aided higher secondary schools by 20 per cent for the 2016-17 academic year. An official pressnote said here on Wednesday that the increase would not place any additional financial burden on the government.

The Cabinet is also understood to have given clearance for presentation of a White Paper on State finances. The White Paper is likely to be tabled in the Assembly in the first week of July, before presentation of the budget by the new government.

Revamp of director board

The Cabinet also decided to reconstitute the director board of the Kannur international airport by including the Chief Minister, Ministers of Revenue, Industries, Transport, Ports and Health, the Chief Secretary and the Kannur Collector as its members.

The government would pay Rs.6 lakh incurred for use of air ambulance for the heart transplant surgery on Mathew Achadan at Kochi from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. The Cabinet also decided to appoint K.V. Sohan the State Attorney and Minhaj Alam, who is back after undergoing training, as Finance (Resources) secretary.
