Two 19-year-old youths were found dead in the Kalladichavila quarry pound at Njandoorkonam near Powdikkonam on Wednesday morning.

The duo, first year students at private engineering colleges in Nedumangad and Chanthavila, were reported missing from their homes on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Kiran.S.Suresh from Powdikkonam and P.Vivek from Chempazhanthi.

The search operation in the pond, organised jointly by the Fire and Rescue Services and Indian Navy personnel, began after local people found their scooter near the pond. Kiran’s body was recovered by 9 a.m. and Vivek’s by 10.30 a.m. The bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy.
