Road-widening: Landowners to be paid damages

Payment of compensation to people who have surrendered their land for the second phase development of the Karamana-Kaliyikkavila National Highway road widening project will begin on Wednesday, Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition) Sam L. Sone said.

Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan informed the Karamana-Kaliyikkavila National Highway Development Action Council that land acquisition had begun in the Pravachambalam-Vazhimukku stretch.

A total of ₹122.44 crore had been earmarked for land acquisition, of which ₹29.93 crore has been sanctioned for compensation to property owners in Pallichal and Kalliyoor villages. The owners have been notified.
