The People's Democratic Party (PDP) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan here on Thursday urging him to protect its leader Abdul Nasir Maudany from being framed and arrested.

The PDP delegation maintained that the case against Mr. Maudany filed by Bangalore police in connection with bomb blasts in the city was fabricated. They said Mr. Maudany was in bad health and detention could become a threat to his life. The leader of the delegation, Poonthura Siraj, told mediapersons that the Chief Minister had promised to do the needful after examining all aspects of the issue.
