Cannabis seized, one arrested

Over two kilograms of cannabis were seized by Excise officials in separate raids that were conducted in various parts of the district. One person was also arrested in a case.

The team led by Excise special squad circle inspector T. Anikumar seized 1.25 kg of the contraband from Chandrababu, alias Thambu, 32, near Balaramapuram during an operation that was conducted late on Tuesday.

In a two-wheeler

The contraband was found to have been concealed in a two-wheeler that was used by the accused, who managed to flee from the scene and evade arrest.

In another incident, the Excise team arrested Ajikumar, 45, of Harinagar Colony in Kandala, near Kattakada, with possession of 1.05 kg of ganja. In both cases, the accused persons were found to have been peddling the substance among school and college students.
