As many as 71,124 students secured permanent admission to Plus One courses across the State on Thursday following the first round of allotment to these courses. Temporary admission was secured by 67,354 students.
The Higher Secondary Directorate said 8,407 candidates who received allotments did not take either a permanent or temporary admission in schools allotted to them. There are 2,39,136 merit seats for the Plus One courses, of which allotments were held to 2,01,810 seats in the first round.
The maximum number of permanent admissions was in Malappuram district - 9,372. The maximum number of temporary admissions was also from this district. Allotments were done to 26,950 seats in the district which has 32,921 merit seats. As many as 777 candidates who received allotments did not report at the respective school.
The minimum number of permanent admissions and temporary admissions was from Wayanad district, 1,707 and 1,589 respectively. There are 6,574 merit seats in the district and allotments were done to 5,759 seats. Here, 152 students did not report for admission to various schools.
In Thiruvananthapuram district, which has 20,171 merit seats and where allotments were done to 17,958 seats, as many as 7,314 candidates secured permanent admission and 6,335 temporary admission. There were 867 students from the district who fell under the “non-joining” category.
In Thrissur district, 7,288 candidates secured permanent admission while 7,523 secured temporary admission. The district has 21,016 merit seats and allotment was done to 18,091 seats. Here, 991 candidates did not report for admissions.
These figures hold true as on 6 p.m. on Thursday. Though admissions closed on Thursday, headmasters of schools have been given time till 11 a.m. on Friday to provide the final update on students who reported for admissions in the first round of allotment.
