500 arrested in police combing operation

Around 500 arrests were made in a combing drive in places under rural police stations in the district on Sunday.

As many as 165 people were arrested on charges of drunk driving and 162 on the charge of creating public nuisance under the influence of alcohol.

Wanted men held

The police arrested 7 wanted men.

Around 2,000 people were booked for motor vehicle offences, including for not wearing helmets and seatbelts.

Girish Kumar, a resident of Kalluvathakkal, wanted in connection with a murder attempt on his wife; and Shyam Kumar, wanted in more than 12 theft cases, were held in the drive, the police said.

Superintendent of Police, Thiruvananthapuram rural, K. Sheffin Ahamed led the drive.
