₹5 crore from LAD funds for Vattiyurkavu roads

₹12.61 cr. for development of roads in Thiruvananthapuram

Vattiyurkavu MLA V.K. Prasanth convened a meeting of councillors of the wards within the constituency to discuss the developmental activities to be taken up on priority.

An amount of ₹5 crore has been sanctioned from the MLA’s local area development (LAD) fund for maintenance works on roads. Along with this, immediate steps will be taken to construct public toilets and to set up hi-tech classrooms in two schools in the constituency.

The ward councillors presented the works required to be carried out in each of their wards. The MLA said that a meeting of representatives from all political parties would be convened soon, followed by a development seminar with members of the public, to discuss developmental issues in the area.

He said that the development of Vattiyurkavu junction and upkeep of roads would be his priority.

Work under way

An amount of ₹12.61 crore had been sanctioned for road development and maintenance in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran said in response to a submission by V.S. Sivakumar, MLA, in the Assembly. The Minister said that maintenance work of ₹26.15 lakh was currently ongoing in roads within the constituency.

In addition to this, tendering for road improvement works to the tune of ₹1.6 crore in various stretches was currently in the final stage.

Tendering process had also begun for road works worth ₹6.85 crore in Beemappally- Poonthura road, Statue-General Hospital-Vanchiyoor road, Attakulangara- Thiruvallam road and Vellayambalam- Thycaud road. All these works would be completed at the earliest, the Minister told the Assembly.
