46 booked for dumping waste in public places

The City Corporation's health squads booked 46 persons who were found dumping waste in public places.

Ten persons were caught from the Medical College area by a team led by Medical College Circle Health Inspector Ramesh Kumar, a statement released by the Corporation said.

Five persons each were caught dumping waste from near the Fort and Chala areas by Health Inspectors B. Pradeep and Samil Babu respectively.

A team led by Sasthamangalam Circle Health Inspector Baburaj caught four persons while Chenthitta Circle Health Inspector G. Unni's team nabbed one person for dumping waste bags in public place. One each was detained from Palayam, Jagathy, Karamana, and Nemom by teams led by Circle Health Inspectors N. Rathikumar, M.J. Baby, Paul Thomas, and Nemom Zonal Health Inspector Fransis Raj respectively.

Three persons were detained by Thirumala Circle Health Inspector Ajit Kumar and team and Beach Circle Health Inspector R. Rajan's team.

Teams led by Health Inspectors Suresh Das, Joseph Singh, Junior Health Inspector Rajitha, T.K. Padmakumar, and Kadakampally-Attipra Zonal Health Inspector M. Muraleedharan Nair detained two persons each from the Sreekanteswaram, Nanthencode, Manacaud, Secretariat, Kadakampally, Attipra areas respectively.

Call to alert squads

Stringent action would be taken against those found dumping waste in public places and roadsides in the backdrop of a recent High Court verdict.

The public may alert the 24-hour squads by calling 94964 34517, the statement said.
