20 candidates in the fray for Aruvikkara by-election

There are 20 candidates in the fray in Aruvikkara for the June 27 by-election when the deadline for filing nomination papers came to an end on Wednesday.

Congress candidate K.S. Sabarinadhan and Bharatiya Janata Party leader O. Rajagopal were among the 13 who filed papers on the concluding day.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader M. Vijayakumar had filed his nomination papers earlier.

Mr. Sabarinadhan and Mr. Vijayakumar have a namesake each in Sabarinath M.S. and Vijay Kumar B.

Also in the fray are K. Das fielded by P.C. George’s Anti-Corruption Democratic Front and Poonthura Siraj of the People’s Democratic Party.

The candidates in the fray are Ansari.A (Ind), K. Das (Ind), V.K. Madhu (Ind), K.G. Mohanan (Ind), J.R. Padmakumar (Ind), K Padmarajan (Ind), O. Rajagopal (BJP), K.S. Sabarinadhan (Congress), Sabarinath M.S. (Ind), N. Sasidharan Pillai (Ind), Sivaprasad K.M. (Ind), Srajjuddin (Poonthura Siraj, People’s Democratic Party), Sreejith T.R. (Ind), P.K. Sukumaran (Ind), Sunil M. Karani (Ind), P. Suresh Kumar (Ind), Thomas Kaithaparambil (Ind), Vijaya Kumar B ( Ind), M. Vijayakumar (CPI-M), and S. Vijayakumaran Nair (Ind).

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on Thursday and June 13 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
