17 left in fray at Aruvikkara after scrutiny

The scrutiny of nominations for the Aruvikkara by-pollwas completed on Thursday, leaving 17 contestants in the fray.

The nomination of K. Padmarajan was rejected as it was not found in order while two candidates — V.K. Madhu and J.R. Padma Kumar — who were dummies of the two fronts, withdrew nomination.

The following candidates are in the fray: Ansari A. (Ind.), Das K. (Ind.), K.G. Mohanan (Ind.), O. Rajagopal (BJP), Sabarinadhan K.S. (Congress), Sabarinath M.S. (Ind.), N. Sasidharan Pillai (Ind.), Siva Prasad K.M. (Ind.), Sirajjuddin (Poonthura Siraj People’s Democratic Party), Sreejith T.R. (Ind.), P.K. Sukumaran (Ind.), Sunil M. Karani (Ind.), P. Suresh Kumar (Ind.), Thomas Kaithaparambil (Ind.), Vijaya Kumar B. (Ind.), M. Vijayakumar [(CPI(M)], and S. Vijayakumaran Nair (Ind.).

Last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 13.
