15,653 clear Class X equivalency exams

Twenty-two transgenders are among the 15,653 people who cleared the class 10 equivalency examinations conducted by the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority. The pass percentage is 90.89.

Syed Hashir who appeared for the examination at SNM HS, Tirurangadi, secured A+ in alll subjects.

Alappuzha churned out the maximum number of successful candidates.

Twenty-five transgenders appeared for the examination in November.

All six transgenders pass

In Thiruvananthapuram, all six transgenders who took the exams at Government Boys High School, Karamana, passed. The maximum number of transgenders appeared in Kollam — nine. Two each sat for the exams at Kannur, Wayanad, and Malappuram, and one each in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kasaragod, and Thrissur.

This is the best result in the equivalency courses, started in 2007.

The successful candidates are eligible to register for the mission’s higher secondary equivalency course. Registration will begin on Sunday.
