Yoga demonstration

International Yoga Day will commence with a yoga demonstration on the 6th floor of Bharath Mall.

Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotary Club of Mangalore East will observe International Yoga Day on June 21 from 7 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. The celebration will be held on the 6th floor of Bharath Mall. The event will commence with a demonstration of simple ‘asanas’ by students, followed by a yoga competition for students from Class 4 to Class 10. There will be no power supply to Haikady, Goliyangady, Belve, Hengavalli, Ardi and Shedimane areas in Udupi district on June 18 and June 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is for maintenance works on 11 Kv Haikady power supply line, a Mescom release here said.

The Department of Fisheries has asked owners of mechanised boats to give their bank accounts to the department for transferring diesel subsidy amount. Bank details should be submitted before June 20, a release said.

The State government has invited applications for its State youth award for 2014-15. Individuals and associations engaged in sports, cultural and community development activities can apply. Last date to apply to Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Mangaluru, is July 31.

Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. has bagged the Chief Minister’s ‘Varshika Ratna’ award for 2014-15 instituted by the Department of Public Enterprises. It carries Rs. 5 lakh in cash. Chikkananjappa, managing director, Mescom, received the award from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
