Workshop on consumer protection

January 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MANGALURU:

A four-day workshop on ‘consumer protection in an age of market economy and globalisation’ will be held here from Monday.

Organised by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Law College the workshop would train participants to use consumer law more effectively to get justice to consumers, a release said.

One of the consequences of liberalisation of economy and globalisation was the flooding of goods in the market from across the world.

Knowing the weakness of consumers exploitation chances were more. Non-literate consumers fall easy prey to advertisements and publicity and might be at the receiving end.

Some of the topics would include consumer protection Act, a critical analysis; teaching and practice of torts law in India and the U.S; U. N. guidelines on consumer protocols and legal policy framework; E-consumer protection, misleading advertisements, legislative frame work, right to choice and consumer responsibilities.
