‘Work not implemented’

January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Mangaluru:

Members of the Mangaluru City Municipal Corporation alleged at the council meeting on Tuesday that the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) has not implemented all the underground drainage work entrusted to it under the Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (KUDCEMP).

The Mayor said that it would be discussed in detail at a special meeting to be convened soon. Some members alleged that the KUIDFC has inaugurated a sewage treatment plant at Jeppinamogaru in a hurry without completing the trial run. There were issues relating to the wet wells connected to the STP.

The members said that people were in confusion whether they could connect sewer lines of their houses to the manholes as the STP has been inaugurated. There was no clarity on it.

When members alleged that malaria control works were not being taken up properly and the cases were on the rise the Mayor directed the health section to take up effective control steps from next week itself.
