Woman loses Rs. 10,000 as fraudster hacks account

A fraudster has managed to gain access to the account of a resident of Lalbagh and made an online purchase of goods worth Rs. 10,000.

A fraudster has managed to gain access to the account of a resident of Lalbagh and made an online purchase of goods worth Rs. 10,000.

In a complaint with Barke police on Wednesday, complainant Vandana said she received an SMS from Corporation Bank of withdrawal of Rs. 10,037.54 on October 7.

She went to the bank’s branch on M.G. Road where she was told of a fraudulent online purchase of goods at the Indians Zone, Tejgaon.

She told the police that some persons have managed to hack into her account and carry out the transaction.

Car burgled

Thieves broke the rear window of advocate Arun Shetty’s car parked on K.S. Road and made away with Rs. 5 lakh kept in the car on Thursday.

The Mangaluru North police said the advocate had parked his vehicle near the Joy Alukkas showroom and had gone to purchase books at the Sapna Book Stall.

When he returned he found somebody had broken part of the rear window and had taken away the bag containing the cash.

Chain-snatching

Thieves managed to divert attention of a two-year-old girl and go away with the gold chain worn by her at the Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Wednesday evening. The Mangaluru North police said the two-year-old Nisha Govind had come with her parents and her elder sister to the temple.

She was playing with her elder sister as her parents were seeing the cultural programme. After a few minutes the child returned with her sister and told her mother about a person going away with her gold chain.

The mother has told police that the chain was worth Rs. 45,000.
