A woman, who boarded a wrong train here, jumped out of it and injured herself at Byndoor railway station in Udupi district on Saturday.
A release by the Railway Protection Force here said that the 22-year-old woman, who was working in Manipal, mistakenly boarded the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin (Train No 22655) Express instead of the Mangaluru Junction – Mumbai CST (Train No 12134) Express at Udupi.
No halt
When she realised her mistake, she jumped out of the moving train at Byndoor railway station and injured herself. The train had no scheduled halt at Byndoor.
Her younger brother, who was at the station, rushed her to a private hospital, Anjali Hospital, in Byndoor.
A passenger on the train, Rupesh Talekar, who saw the woman jump out of the train, messaged the Railway Helpline [182].
The RPF made its enquiries and found out about the incident.
The RPF has appealed to passengers to come to railway stations at least 10 minutes before the departure and check the train before boarding.
In case of emergencies, passengers should make use of the helpline number, the release added.
