The Udupi City Municipal Council will provide tap water in the following areas on Wednesday: Doddanagudde, Karambally, Janata Colony, Weavers Colony, V.M. Nagar, Police Quarters, Chakra Tirtha, Padigaru Mutt, Gundibail School area, Kalsank-Gundibail Road, Adkada Katte, Nittur, Vishnumurthy Nagar, Kadiyali, KEB Quarters, Kathyayini Nagar, MGM Quarters, Sagri till railway bridge, Gopalpura, Nayampalli, Santhekatte, Subramanya Nagar, Ambagilu, Kakkunje, Prabhakar Layout, Kudure Kalsank, Nittur School, and Hanumanth Nagar. In a press release here on Tuesday, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said that the district administration should immediately start work to remove silt at Hoige Gundi near Shiroor Moola Mutt at Shiroor village in Udupi district.
There was a lot of shrubs at Hoige Gundi on the pathway of the Swarna. Work to remove silt had not been taken up in this area for the last six years.
Meanwhile, the Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti and Pancharatna Seva Trust began distributing water through tankers to water-scarce areas in the city.
