Minister for Fishers, Ports, Inland Transport and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary said here on Wednesday that the Union government will shortly release funds to the State towards flood relief.

Speaking at a district executive committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Poojary said that the Union government will release the maximum amount for flood relief.

“Don’t be concerned over statements made by (the former Chief Ministers) Siddaramaiah and H.D. Kumaraswamy. Opposition party leaders are bound to criticise the government,” he said.

Asking party workers to reach out to victims of the recent floods, Mr. Poojary said, “You cannot leave it to officials. Help the victims get the relief they deserve.”

Dakshina Kannada district BJP president and Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor also spoke.
