Two, including a woman, die in road accidents

Two persons, including a woman, died in road accidents in Dakshina Kannada on Friday.

A lorry transporting sand and a car collided at Suri Kumeru near Kalladka on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway at about 4.35 p.m.

Saraswathi (84), who was travelling in the car from Puttur towards Mangaluru, died.

The other passengers in the car, Ramachandra (32), Srinivasa (52) and Kanchana (40), were injured. The lorry was plying from Panemangaluru to Mysuru, police said.

In another accident at Kemmar near Uppinangady, Shashi Achary (38) who was driving a motorbike, died on the spot after colliding with a lorry while trying to overtake.

Found dead

A person was found dead in an abandoned cow shed at Padebettu village coming under Padubidri police station limits on Friday. According to the police, the face of the person was covered with a plastic bag and tied with a yellow nylon rope. The body was discovered by Sandesh Shetty, who went to the cottage to investigate a foul smell emanting from it.

The police suspected a case of murder. A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is on, the police added.
