The trial run of Fastag/Electronic Toll Collection began at the toll plaza at Hejmady in Udupi district on Friday.

The trial run for all 12 lanes under the Fastag/Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) scheme began at the toll plaza at Hejmady village in Udupi district on Friday.

A press release issued here on Friday said that as per the directions of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari, all toll lanes will be enabled with Fastags with mandatory implementation from December 1.

Accordingly, the trial run for all lanes with Fastag/ETC is being implemented at the toll plaza at Hejmady in Udupi district.

The NHAI PIU-Mangalore Personnel and Project Director Shishu Mohan as well as toll operator team and an independent engineers team were overseeing the implementation at all lanes with Fastags.

The approach regarding e-toll payment in terms of Fastag lanes initiated by the Ministry is to ensure hassle-free movement as well as to facilitate convenient mode of toll payment, the release said. The toll plaza at Hejmady was one of the 10 toll plazas in the State that have been selected for the trial runs for Fastags/ETC. Having a Fastag enables vehicle owners to cross toll plazas quickly.
