Translations of book on Balappa set for release

To mark the second death anniversary of theatre personality Yenagi Balappa, the English and Marathi versions of the Kannada book written on him by journalist Ganesh Amingad will be released on Sunday.

The district units of Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota, along with Samvahana Publishers, Mysuru, will jointly organise the book launch at Navyajyothi Hall in JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, at 6 p.m. The English adaptation — Golden Days of Colourful Life — is by Krishnamurthy Chander and the Marathi version — Rangamaya Jeevanache Suvarnamaya Diwas — is by Gopal Mahamuni. Both will be present.

On the occasion, the seventh volume of Mr. Amingad’s book, Bannada Badukina Chinnada Dinagalu, which documents Balappa’s life on stage, will also be released.

Sarod maestro Pandit Rajeev Taranath will release the books in the presence of Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami of Suttur Mutt. C. Somashekar, retired IAS officer, will preside over the function. Theatre personalities Srinivas G. Kappanna and Na Domadar Shetty and journalist Ganapathi will be present. Balappa’s sons Basavaraj Yenagi and Subhash Yenagi will also witness the occasion.
