An eco-friendly Naga Panchami festival was celebrated at the Nagabana at the Sri Nagadevaru and Sri Rakteshwari Amma Sannidhi at Padigaru here on Monday.
The devotees were given tirtha at the Nagabana in tender coconuts that they had brought to offer along with other items to take them back home.
Over 200 devotees had come to offer their prayers at this Nagabana between 7 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
This initiative of offering tirtha back in tender coconuts brought by devotees ensures that there are no empty tender coconuts left at the Nagabana.
The devotees were all praise for this initiative. Pratima Salian, a resident of Kunjibettu, said that returning tender coconuts to devotees was a good move. “I will plant a sapling in the tender coconut given to me,” she said.
Another devotee from Mangaluru Pratibha said that this was an environment-friendly initiative which should be encouraged. “We need not wait for the government to do everything. We should do something ourselves,” she said.
