Three more arrested on charge of circulating video of gang-rape

A total of 11 persons have been arrested in the case

The Puttur Town Police have arrested three more persons allegedly involved in the circulation of two videos of the gang-rape of a 18-year-old from Puttur.

The police have identified the three as Shaukat Ali, Jabir, and Nazeer.

A total of 11 persons have been arrested so far. The Puttur Town Police registered a suo motu case under Sections 66 E and 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act soon after the social media monitoring cell of the district police alerted about the circulation of the two videos in Puttur.

The police have arrested Shreyans, 20, Muralidhar, 29, Chandrashekar Mayya, 47, Poovappa K., 26, Pavan Kumar D., 19, Mohit P.G, 18, Dhyan A.N., 18, and Adwith Kumar Naika, 19.

The Puttur Town Police have identified the person who posted another video of the victim on social media. Efforts are being made to trace and arrest him, the police added.
