However busy his schedule might be, Minister for Environment and Forests B. Ramanath Rai makes it a point to do his two-hour long morning exercise.

Sunday was no different. Having to attend official International Yoga Day programme at the T.M.A. Convention Centre at 8.30 a.m., Mr. Rai arrived at the venue at 7 a.m. Sporting a green and white striped T-shirt and a black track suit, Mr. Rai chose a corner in the hall to do his exercises.

The routine

Among the exercises he did included stretching exercises with a stick. He walked a few steps by twisting his feet. He wore ankle and wrist weights each of 1 kg to give more traction for this stretches. He did some yogasanas and ended his 90-minute work just as officials and MLAs started to arrive at the venue. “It is combination of physical exercises, yoga and muscle stiff breathing he does every day,” said Mr. Rai’s neighbour and trainer Oswald Goveas.
