The Hindu Young World Quiz today

The eighth edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz '11, an initiative of The Hindu-NIE, to be held today at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius PU College, Kodialbail at 11 a.m., will be inaugurated by M. R. Vasudeva, Director, Mangalore airport.

Participation is open to schoolchildren from classes 7 to 9. Teams will consist of any two students from the same school. A maximum of four teams per school is allowed. The teams in each centre will participate in a written preliminary round and six finalists will be selected for that centre.

In each centre, the finals will be held immediately after the preliminaries.

The winners in each centre will qualify for the all-India finals. The Hindu will arrange for the travel and stay of the outstation team (along with one adult escort per team) qualifying for the all-India final.

The title sponsor for the event is Velammal Educational Trust. The associate sponsors are Extramarks Education Pvt Ltd and Indian Overseas Bank. National sponsors are Black Thunder, Gold Winner, Amway, Vizag Steel, Maggi Noodles, Wilco Picture Library, Puffin India, Firefox Bikes, Reynolds, Funfills, Success Notebooks, and Cricket Caricatures.

The regional sponsors are St. Joseph Engineering College, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, P.A. College of Engineering, Dakshina Kannada Milk Union Ltd (DKMUL), New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), and Campco.

The car sponsor is Tata Nano, beverage sponsor is Real, water sponsor is Bisleri, and the event manager is I Ads & Events.

The grand finale will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on November 14.
