Teaching Kannada to Central personnel

The Dakshina Kannada police have given the transliteration and the meaning of 15 Kannada words in Hindi to the Central security force personnel deployed in the district for making communication easier during Saturday’s Assembly election, according to B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda, Superintendent of Police.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Thursday, he said that the Kannada words selected are widely used and required for easy communication. Getting familiar with them would help in managing the people at polling stations during polling.

He said about 3,000 security personnel would be on duty to manage the polls under the jurisdiction of Dakshina Kannada police barring the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate.

Vipul Kumar, Mangaluru Police Commissioner, said that police would ensure that people would vote comfortably and confidently.

The Central security forces would manage about 75% of booths under the Commissionerate, he said.
