Shalini Rajaneesh, Principal Secretary, Backward Classes and Welfare Department, said here on Thursday that the process of digitising the data of Social and Educational Survey — popularly called ‘caste census’ — will be over by the end of next month.

Addressing the media, she said that of the five city corporations in the State, the survey had been completed fully in Belagavi.

It has been completed in most of the rural areas but its progress was slow in urban areas as enumerators found most houses locked, she said.

Once completed, it will provide a directory of around 1.41 crore families in the State.

Individual families would get a de-coded form of their family from the government. It would be delivered through government staff at doorsteps. If there was any error in the de-coded forms, it could be rectified, she said.

She said that survey helped in analysing social conditions of families in the State. The report generated would help in the effective implementation of various government programmes.

Survey successful more in rural areas than in urban areas
