Student gets national award

A student belonging to the Scheduled Caste category from the district bagged the Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Award. Varun Ashok Nandre stood third at the all-India level. He is presently pursuing medicine in Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi.

Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim presented him a cheque for Rs. 40,000 and a citation, given by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Mr. Nandre completed SSCL in Vanitha Vidyalaya School, Belagavi.

In CET, he secured the 445th rank, said his father Ashoknath, who works for the Commercial Taxes Department.
