Stone thrown at prayer hall

Police monitor camera footages to find the culprit who threw stones at a glass casing of Krishnapura's prayer hall.

Unidentified persons threw stones at a glass casing outside a place of worship in Krishnapura on Tuesday evening.

The Surathkal police said that some persons had thrown stones at the seven-foot high glass casing of a drawing on the wall of a prayer hall.

Passers-by noticed the damage and informed the police.

People gathered in big numbers as police reached the spot. The police are searching for persons involved in the incident.

They are looking at the footage of closed-circuit television cameras for clues.

Gold smuggling

The Customs officials have arrested Ubaid Bare Hassiner, a native of Mangad near Kasaragod, on teh charge of smuggling 464.8 grams of gold into the Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday.

A release said the officials checked Hassiner just after he landed from Dubai by a Jet Airways flight.

They found him concealing gold in the form of a silver paint-coated suitcase handle, buckle holder and round button-shaped objects.
