State approves plastic park project for Mangaluru, says official

The State Department of Industries and Commerce has approved setting up of a plastic park at Ganjimutt in Mangaluru taluk at an estimated cost of ₹152 crore, according to N. Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Director, Dakshina Kannada District Industries Centre.

He told the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting, presided over by Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, here on Saturday that 32 companies have registered to set up their units in the park. They have asked for 81 acres of land against 61 acres available now. A total of 104 acres are required for the park. About ₹41 crore is required to acquirethe remaining land required for the project. The government gave its approval recently, he said.

Mr. Nayak said that the final approval from the Union government is required for opening the park.

The MP asked Mr. Nayak to hasten the process of getting the approval to enable laying the foundation stone for the park project by the end of March, 2019.
