Sports meet on October 30

Dakshina Kannada district-level Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan will be organised on October 30 at the Ratnavarma stadium, Ujire. Different government departments have come together to organise it. Details about the tournaments can be obtained from the office of the Deputy Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports here.

Beary Day on Saturday

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will organise Beary Day to celebrate the glory of the Beary language and culture at the T.V. Ramana Pai Convention Centre here on October 3 at 3 p.m. There will be an exhibition of photographs and books, especially those in Beary language. A collection of poems by Fakruddin Iruvail will be released on the occasion, and cultural programmes will be held.

Student procession for Gandhi Jayanti

The Bharat Seva Dal will observe Gandhi Jayanti at Gandhi Park in front of the Town Hall here on Friday at 9 a.m. Tulu Paddana (sung narratives) artiste Gidigere Ramakka will be felicitated on the occasion. Students from various schools and colleges will take out a procession from Ambedkar Circle to Town Hall at 8.30 a.m.

MCC to deploy

two ambulances

The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will deploy two ambulances towards the service of the people in its jurisdiction shortly. The ambulances will be hired temporarily, while the State government will be requested to sanction two ambulances to the corporation on a permanent basis, Mayor Jesintha Vijaya Alfred told the meeting of the council on Wednesday.
