Skirmish among prison inmates

January 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MANGALURU:

A group of prison inmates threw ‘sambar’ on their fellow inmates while they were returning to their cell after attending a video conference in the Mangaluru District Prison on Monday. According to Barke police, three inmates, who are accused in the rape of a medical student in Deralakatte, on Monday had to attend a hearing in connection with another criminal case.

They were brought from their cell to another part of the prison where a video conferencing system was set up, which is being used to produce inmates in courts.

The police said a group of inmates threw the sambar they had stocked on these three. This led to scuffle between the two groups. Prison staff rushed to separate them. A complaint has been filed against the persons who had thrown ‘sambar’, the police added.
