It is her sheer willpower which has ensured that Sabitha Monis participated in the democratic process everytime without fail.
A resident of Gardadi village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Ms. Monis used her foot to cast her vote at her village’s polling booth on Thursday.
For her gesture, she is also recognised as the SVEEP ambassador of the region.
The daughter of Basil Monis and Benedicta Monis, agriculturists, Ms. Monis pursued her MSW at Alva’s College, Moodbidri.
Alva’s Foundation appointed her as the Student Welfare Officer for PU and degree sections.
Prasad Shetty, a lecturer with Alva’s said that Ms. Monis has been an inspiration to many. “It is for the seventh time I’m exercising franchise, including today,” Ms. Monis told The Hindu .
It is her dedication to democratic process that makes her vote every time. She commutes to the college, located about 25 km from her residence, by the college bus daily.
Ms. Monis has two elder sisters and one elder brother.
