Water level in the Swarna at Baje dam has gone up to 2.70 metres owing to rain in Udupi district.

K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said on Tuesday that since the water level in the Baje dam against the Swarna had increased to 2.70 metres owing to rain, round-the-clock water supply will be started in Udupi city from Wednesday evening.

In a press release issued here, Mr. Bhat said that he visited the Baje dam site at Baje village in Udupi district. He said that there was now increased inflow of water in the Swarna because of the rain in the district. He thanked the people of the city for patiently bearing with shortage of water.

It may be recalled that there was water rationing in Udupi city for the last few weeks. The city had been divided into six zones and each zone was receiving water once in six days.
