Revenue official held on charge of taking bribe

Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday apprehended an Assistant Revenue Officer with the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB), Mangaluru, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant.

A release here said KHB’s Assistant Executive Engineer Vijay Kumar and Asistant Revenue Officer Srinivas Shetty had allegedly demanded ₹12,000 from Gangadhara K. Adyapadi. Mr. Adyapadi wanted original documents of his property back and a no-objection certificate after clearing loan dues of the KHB.

The complainant paid an advance of ₹2,000 to the accused and went along with ACB personnel to KHB office on Friday to pay the balance. While the AEE was away at that time, the ARO was caught red-handed allegedly receiving the bribe, the release said.
