Rain festival at Pilikula on Sunday

There will be a competition on making and decorating umbrellas. The best three will get prize money.

The rain festival at Dr. Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama on Sunday will have many attractions including an exhibition of traditional and modern umbrellas, according to Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he said that there would be a competition on making art on umbrellas and decorating them. The first three most attractive umbrellas would get prize money of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000. There would also be a sale of umbrellas.

Executive Director of the Nisargadhama S.A. Prabhakara Sharma said that there would be an exhibition of photographs on rain. Those who would like to exhibit them should send the photographs to his office on or before June 13. He said that entry for the festival would be free. He said visitors could plant saplings in the surroundings of the Urban Hath buildings.
