Members of Rashtriya Heddari 75 Horata Samiti and other organisations staged a protest in Nelyadi on Thursday against the abrupt stoppage of the ₹821-crore four-lane concreting work between Addahole and B.C. Road of National Highway 75.
The organisations have raised their concern over the delay in completing the NH 75 widening work. The organisations said the project had to be completed at the end of its 30-month duration on September 22, 2019.
The abrupt stoppage has worsened the road condition, which has resulted in accidents. Despite several representations, the National Highways Authority of India and elected representations have failed to ensure speedy completion of the work, they alleged.
Procession
On Thursday, several people took out a procession from Nehru Maidan, Nelyadi, and held a public meeting near the autorickshaw stand. The protest ended an hour later after submitting a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.
The organisations have threatened of intensify their protest and block movement of traffic on the same highway if the government fails to take action for early completion of the road work.
