Pejawar Mutt seer Vishvesha Tirtha on Thursday called the Congress a “minority communal party” as it was treating Hindus differently from those belonging to the minority community. The party has failed to consider all communities equally, he said.

Addressing a protest gathering called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad here on Thursday, the seer said that a real secular party will treat all religions on an equal platform. But the Congress has failed to act in the right way. Referring to reports of Congress forming a Hindu organisation, the swami said, “I will be the first person to appreciate if the party treats Hindus and Muslims on an equal platform.”

Criticising the Bill introduced by the Congress government for controlling temples and mutts, the swami said that the State government was silent on controlling mosques and churches.

The State government should first withdraw from the legislature the Bill that goes against the spirit of secularism that the party vouches for.

The swami said that a hue and cry was being raised over re-conversion to Hinduism while the Congress was silent over a large of number of conversions.

A law against re-conversion was unacceptable if conversion to other religions was allowed, he said.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad regional unit president M.B. Puranik, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and swamijis from different mutts participated in the protest.
