One more monkeyfound dead

One more money was found dead in Udupi district on Thursday. With this, the number of monkeys found dead since January 8 in the district reached 31.

District Health and Welfare Officer Rohini told The Hindu on Thursday that a monkey was found dead near Alevoor in Udupi district. But there were no suspected or confirmed cases of Kyasanur Forest Disease in the district so far.

The Health Department was giving importance to creating public awareness in the rural areas where the monkeys were found dead and other places also. A meeting of the medical officers of the primary health centres would be held here on Friday in the matter, she said.
