The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Friday organised a road show for Port Community System (PCS 1x) in association with Indian Ports Association and logistics software company Portall to sensitise and create wider awareness amongst the maritime community.

PCS 1x was rolled out in December 2018 at 13 major ports of India. Over 14,000 users conduct more than 70,000 transactions a day at present, including customs, payments, vessel, cargo and delivery related messages.

The show hopes to speed up on-boarding by the rest of the maritime ecosystem since the platform is designed to handle 27 stakeholder categories and is able to evolve based on any changes requested by stakeholders. All major trade associations are working alongside IPA and M/s Portall to improve adoption and address additional requests from the stakeholders.

Inaugurating the show, Port Chairman A.V. Ramana urged stakeholders to adopt the system for the benefit of maritime trade. He said PCS 1x was a common umbrella for all stakeholders of maritime business for seamless exchange of messages which provide a more stable solution at cloud platforms. Representatives of M/s Portall presented to the trade community the benefits and features of PCS 1x and indicated additional functionalities in the pipeline.

The session closed with an interactive discussion on the way forward and live on-boarding of new users onto PCS 1x. During the session feedback were taken from port users for further improvements.

NMPT said the event got good response from shipping agents, custom house agents, terminal operators, container freight station, Mercantile Marine Department, Port Health Organization and other officials from the port.
