New loop line commissioned at Anjani Railway Station

Konkan Railway and Southern Railway celebrate Mahatma’s 150th birth anniversary

Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. on Tuesday commissioned Loop Line No. 2 at Anjani Railway Station between Ratnagiri and Chiplun stations in Maharashtra as a part of the capacity augmentation work.

A release said KRCL had taken up construction of 10 new stations and eight loop lines across its network in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka to augment the line capacity.

The new loop line at Anjani would increase train crossing capacity at the station, thereby enhancing overall efficiency in train operations across the network. The loop line was constructed at a cost of ₹2.5 crore at a record time with the work starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and the first train, Jan Shatabdi, passing Anjani at 9.30 p.m. More than 200 people were involved in the work, the release said.

KRCL as well as Palakkad division of Southern Railway celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at their respective headquarters on Wednesday.

KRCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Gupta led the celebrations at its headquarters in Belapur, Navi Mumbai. He administered the Swachhata pledge to the employees.
