A monumental national flag measuring 30 feet x 20 feet was hoisted on a 100-ft mast in the circulating area of Mysuru railway station here to mark Independence Day on Thursday.

The flag was hoisted by MP for Mysuru Pratap Simha. The flag was made of knitted polyester called Denier polyester and the Chakra was printed using specialised processes.

A release said the hoisting of the monumental flag was part of the Railway Ministry’s sustained endeavours to inspire young Indians to take pride in displaying the national flag and instil a sense of patriotism among citizens. The Flag Foundation of India has hoisted such flags across the country. It is not required to be lowered at dusk.
