Missing man’s body fished out from river

The body of a 28-year-old tailor, reported missing on Thursday, was found floating in the Phalguni near Maravoor bridge on Friday.

The Bajpe police said the family members of Lokesh of Nelliteertha had reported that he was missing since Thursday evening when he went to Mangaluru. They found that Lokesh’s mobile phone had been switched off.

On Friday morning passers-by noticed a body flowing below the Maravoor bridge.

They fished out the body and informed the police, who identified him as Lokesh.

The police then used the services of the local swimmers and a crane to remove from the water the motorcycle that Lokesh was riding.

The police said Lokesh might have lost control over his motorcycle and fallen into the river on Thursday evening.

Truck falls in sea

A lorry filled with coal fell into the sea at the New Mangalore Port Trust on Friday. The Panambur police said the lorry driver could not control the vehicle while moving in the reverse direction on the Port premises. The port authorities removed the lorry. The lorry driver was not injured, but the entire load of coal was lost in the sea, the police said.

Falls off tree

A person who climbed a tree to chop its branch, fell from it and died at Mudrady village in Hebri police station limits on Friday.

The police said Suresh (42) had climbed the tree to cut its branch at Billady in Mudrady around 11 a.m.

He accidentally slipped and fell to his death. A case of unnatural death had been registered.
