Mild tremors were felt in some parts of coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi at around 11.50 a.m., following the massive earthquake in Nepal.
The tremors lasted for about 30 seconds at Bavuta Gudde in the heart of Mangaluru. An employee in a shopping complex in the locality said that chairs and other furniture in the office slightly rattled for a while. This also led to many employees rushing out of the complex in anxiety.
However, the Mines and Geology Department in Dakshina Kannada said the tremors were not reported in the region. There are chances of tremors in the region following the Nepal earthquake, an official said.
Mild tremors were also felt in Manipal, Udupi and some other places in the two districts, according to reports. The Indian Meteorological Department has not recorded any tremors in Karnataka.
